About Evergreen Life Services NCTX:
Evergreen Life Services (ELS) is a charitable, non-profit organization that provides a full range of professional services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).   ELS was started in 1959 as a Presbyterian ministry to provide community-based services to local people with severe IDD were usually sent to state institutions.   Since its beginning, ELS has expanded into seven states and now serves 1,000 people with disabilities in 7 states.  

Evergreen Life services NCTX offers support, guidance, and training through Community Based Housing, Day Programs/Independent Living Support, Case Management, Foster Care, and additional support options such as Respite Care & Behavioral Support, is vital to the organizations mission to create and support a variety of programs that assist 154+ individuals 18yrs and older living with intellectual disabilities in achieving and sustaining full lives.

Community Based Housing:
North Central Texas Region has 18 community homes.  We serve 97 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have the right to live in the least restrictive setting possible.  Our handicap-accessible homes are located in traditional neighborhoods and communities and have support up to 24 hours of customized and comprehensive support.  
Community homes are typically 3 to 6 bedrooms with 4 to 6 individuals living in them.  With this opportunity they learn everyday living skills, have individualized privacy and have the opportunity to go out and socialize on nights and weekends in the community.  With this support, they are able to have greater independence in a safe atmosphere. 
Our direct support staff work one-on-one to help the adults learn the following but not limited to:

• Pay rent and bills, budget                            
• Shopping for groceries and necessities
• Refill prescriptions and monitor medications
• Prepare healthy meals
• Manage home cleaning and laundry
• Make and keep doctor appointments
•  Plan social opportunities
•  Join a gym or exercise class and more. 

Day Programs:
North Central Texas Region has 4 Day Programs that are designed to meet the unique social, emotional and educational needs of individuals with a wide range of disabilities.   Each of our Day Programs provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment where intellectual and/or developmental disabilities adults can learn, grow and nurture relationships with their peers and actively participate in the community around them.  
Activities include and not limited to:

• Gym and exercise time
• Job training / Job support
• Art classes
• Access to computers and learning games
• Cooking lessons
• Money management
• Opportunity to earn money doing piece work for our local business partners
• Vocational training and more.
