Homemade Health hosted by City of Bed...
Description
It's a new year and a great time to start new, healthy habits.
Start by learning the benefits of adding probiotic foods to your diet in this LIVE three-part series. You will learn three basic fermentation techniques to make yogurt, sauerkraut, and kombucha. Each of these foods improves digestion and provides immunity-boosting nutrients.
Online registration is required to receive the Zoom link to the live class. The ingredients you’ll need if you want to cook along with the instructor are listed below. This class should take about 30-45 minutes in total.
TODAY'S CLASS: KOMBUCHA
Kombucha is a sweet, fizzy drink made from bacteria, yeast, sugar, and tea. Many store brands are too sweet, too sour, or both! Making kombucha at home allows you to control the taste and still benefit from this delicious fermented drink. You will learn about the two-step fermentation process, how to flavor and store your kombucha, and how to keep your kombucha culture alive.
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of store-bought kombucha with no flavorings. (recommend GTS brand organic and raw original kombucha)
- four black tea bags
- ½ cup pure cane sugar
Supplies you'll need:
- ½ gallon filtered water
- ½ gallon wide mouth jar
- small piece of dishcloth, or clean t-shirt
rubber band or thick string (kitchen string, jute)
